Your postpartum consultation package will be tailored to your specific needs. Parents often request daily virtual consultations in the first days after birth to establish feeding routines and provide postpartum care for the mother. Daily sessions during the first week or two postpartum may tailor off to three times a week by week three, then once or twice a week. It is common to continue the relationship through the month of the "fourth trimester."

The postpartum period sets the tone and foundation for years of parenting to come. In many cultures around the world, this sacred time is a period of honoring and caring for the new mother and family. Women are nurtured, encouraged to rest, receive massage and bodywork, and are served nutritious meals to help heal and recover. This special care allows the new mother primarily focus on feeding and bonding with her baby. Supportive female elders who were once nurtured themselves in a similar way provide this loving care to the new mother.
The pressures and expectations of contemporary American culture make respecting the postpartum period difficult. New parents are often trying to balance everyday tasks and stresses with devoting care to the newborn while keeping up the appearance that nothing has changed. Mothers are expected to be social, entertain visitors, run errands, and hurry up to "get back to normal." The mothers' partners are expected to do the work of an entire support group, but often must return to full-time work themselves.
It is commonplace in our culture for family members to be spread far and wide. Family members become visitors who come to see the baby briefly right after birth. They may or may not be in line with parenting goals, and may not understand the new family's choices. These disagreements can be stressful for new parents. Creating a postpartum set of goals, wishes, and resources ahead of time is crucial in this time of transition.
Receiving support, non-judgmental guidance, rest, and nurturing during the sacred postpartum period is not a luxury. It is a necessity for new families to thrive and establish their own unique relationships.
The goal of our support service is to listen, offer recommendations, provide options, and serve as a gentle guide. We recognize that new parents are in fact the experts when it comes to their babies and their bodies.
We encourage new parents to schedule a virtual meeting with us while still anticipating baby's arrival in order to establish a relationship, discuss expectations, ask honest questions, and determine the best way forward. Since even the best laid plans can go astray, we can prepare for these contingencies and adjust to changing needs and circumstances.
Our goal is to provide great early support services so that parents can build upon their instincts and feel ready to navigate on their own.
We realize that circumstances may change and that new parents may require additional support. We can help new parents problem-solve and access additional resources as needed.
